Garden of Remembrance

As part of our acts of remembrance we have again created our Garden of Remembrance at the front of the school. The children and school staff wanted to again make sure that we paid our respects to remember the fallen and serving members of the armed forces of past and present conflicts.

All the children and staff created their own poppies and planted these in our Garden of Remembrance. At the heart of the garden was a replica of the War Memorial which stands in Sandy and each class created a wreath to lay. Each class has also created a giant poppy for display in the school hall. This act has had a profound effect on the children as it is important for each of us to stop and pay our respects.

On Remembrance Sunday representatives from Year 6 took part in the Remembrance Parade in the town and laid a wreath on behalf of the school at the War Memorial.

Nativity Scene

A Nativity Scene and Winter Wonderland has been created by the children and staff, with the children creating a field of wishing stars, waddles of penguins and the trees are covered in baubles and icicles.

Black History Month

While black history is celebrated year round, Black History Month is marked annually. It recognises and values the inspirational individuals and events that have shaped the black generation. During Black History Month, we remember and celebrate the important people from the past and also those who contribute to and help our society today.

As a celebration of the children's learning a whole school display has been created in the hall.
