History Vision
At Robert Peel, we aim to ensure our children have an understanding of the past and how it shapes the customs and beliefs of the communities to which we belong. Learning about the past and the methods used to study it, helps children to make sense of the world in which they live. Children will recognise that History is about real people and real events and how these events have impacted society.
Through History, children will develop the concepts of continuity and change, which are frequently part of our everyday experience. Through their growing knowledge and understanding of the past, children will gain an appreciation of life in Britain and across the world in times gone past, as well as showing empathy for people from different historical periods. History teaching will motivate children to ask questions about different periods in time and equip them with the skills and vocabulary needed to become passionate learners and inquisitive Historians.
